OVERVIEW
This capstone project involves users interacting with a Virtual Reality headset that contains a 3D virtual environment with anxiety inducing triggers in order to go through the process of exposure-based therapy. The goal of the simulation is to have users face these anxiety ridden environments over a repeated amount of times in order to progress less anxiety with that trigger. The technology of a Oculus Quest headset allows for practitioners to bring in environments that are very close in capacity with the real world and derive the same feelings and sensations.

LOGO DESIGN
The inspiration for this design was meant to represent the chaos in the mind when experiencing anxiety. The particles of the mind that are floating into space illustrate fear leaving the body as one puts on the Mind Space VR goggles.
CLEAN ENVIRONMENT
HOW IT WORKS
The first line of psychological treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is cognitive behavioral therapy, including exposure and response prevention (ERP), as recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. ERP involves exposing patients to symptom relevant anxigenic situations (eg. touching a toilet seat). The patient is then prevented from carrying out the neutralizing safety-behavior (eg. excessive cleaning) which eventually leads to habituation.
CONTAMINATED ENVIRONMENT
The "tampered" or dirty environment is an exact replica of the clean bathroom shown above. Although all elements in both environments are present, it is the modification of those elements that causes the triggering behavior in the patient when exposed.
THE USER HAS CONTROL
The interactivity of providing buttons to simultaneously change the environment allows the user to control how long they are exposed to the contaminated bathroom.
